Obituary of William Lynch
William (Bill) Marion Lynch, 64, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 8, 2019, at his home in Iowa City with his wife Paula beside him. In his final week, he was surrounded by his children, siblings, extended family and friends. He was able to hear the joyful reminiscing from many great stories.
Bill was born on November 15, 1954, to Leo and Bernice Lynch. He was the ninth of fourteen children. The house never lacked activity and energy. Bill loved playing basketball, and he will forever be remembered for his whistling, sense of adventure and independence.
Bill graduated from Regina High School and the University of Iowa. While a senior in high school, he met Paula (Scott) and they married in 1975. They shared a love for walking, biking, camping and traveling. They were completely committed to one another. God blessed them with David, Rachel and three grandchildren. He ran a painting business which he loved and listened to talk radio all day while he worked. He also enjoyed economics, investments and political conversations.
Bill is survived by his wife Paula; children Dave (Melanie) Lynch and Rachel (Michael) Pagel; grandchildren Scottie, Spencer, and Lucy Lynch; and siblings Larry (Julie) Lynch, Terry (Barb) Lynch, Jim Lynch, Joyce (Fuzz) Lehman, Tom (Kathy) Lynch, Pat (Cathy) Lynch, sister-in-law Cindy Lynch, Joe (Shawn) Lynch, Ed (Paula) Lynch, Alan (Mary) Lynch, Janet (Courtney) Harris and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Emily, son Baby Boy and siblings Gary, John, and Mary Lynch.
We will celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at River Community Church, 3001 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City. The visitation will be held at 9:30 AM, with a service at 10:30 AM and lunch to follow.
