Obituary of Christopher J. Doehrmann

Christopher J. “Chris” Doehrmann, 41, of Lone Tree, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by his wife, children and sister whom he loved so much.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Services celebrating Chris’s life will be held at 10 am, Friday, April 12, 2019, at the Christian Church in Nichols, Iowa. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his memory. Christopher James Doehrmann was born October 25, 1977, in Iowa City.  Growing up in West Liberty he attended schools there graduating with the Class of 1996, he later graduated from Hamilton Business College.  For nearly 20 years he worked at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City as a Telecommunications Analyst.

Chris married Cheryl L. Stagg on June 1, 2002, at the Christian Church in Nichols.  To this union three beautiful children were born, Paige, Jaden and Trenton.  There was nothing more important in this world than his family. From supporting everything they have been involved with, family outings near and far, or simply “being that laugh in the room that everyone knew it was Chris”. Being called Dad, Dear or My Love was all that this man needed!  Outside his family and work, there was something else, his Fireman and EMT family.  Between the Nichols and Lone Tree Fire Departments, he had served over 17 years in these communities.  He felt called to helping others; alongside of so many others, they knew they were making a difference in the lives of their community members.  And when Chris had time in years past, he enjoyed hunting deer and turkeys. A good soul, great smile, unique sense of humor, loved by many and will be dearly missed.

His family includes his wife, Cheryl; their children, Paige, Jaden, and Trenton; his parents, Steven and Terrie Doehrmann; sister, Joy Reinhardt (Jamie); grandparents, Virgil and Maureen Fountain and Ronald and Jean Doehrmann; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; two fur babies, Winston and Tyson; and all the members of the Lone Tree Fire Department who have been there for Chris and his family throughout all of this! Chris was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Lynn.
