As one of those whom Bob mentored with care and understanding, I have nothing but fond memories of our time working together as executive editors. His grace in handling of even the most challenging and frustrating situations was both a comfort and an example for me to follow. Even more enjoyable were our conversations about Bob's family's candy company where my partner and many of his family members worked when they were teenagers. But perhaps most impressive and instructive was what I learned from Bob when he retired. Instead of letting me hire him for freelance work, he left work behind and dedicated himself to enjoying life with his family. I'm sure that was a great gift that will live on in cherished memories.
