Obituary of Linda R. Holderness

Linda R. Holderness 66 of Iowa City surrounded by family, entered heavens gates to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2019.

Linda was born on October 5, 1952 to the late Lawrence and Betty Redig. Linda attended and graduated from Regina in Iowa City. She married Virgil Holderness on August 19, 1976. Together they shared 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls.  Linda work for the Veterans Affairs in Iowa City for 30 plus years in which she retired as the open heart coordinator. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, play cards with family, going to bingo and camping among many other things.

Linda is survived by her husband, Virgil Holderness of Iowa City; 5 children, son Alton and wife Angie of Marengo; son Shawn and wife Jennifer of Cedar Rapids; daughter Hope and husband Howard Dean of Iowa City; son Virgil (Cory) and significant other Amy Holland of Iowa City; daughter Jessica Sonii of Iowa City. 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. One brother Robert and wife Effie of Parnell. One sister Kathy and husband Rick Holden of North English. As well as, a host of nieces and nephews.

Linda was proceeded in death by both of her parents, both grandparents, 2 brothers Randy and Russ and her son Jason Holderness.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name and can be directed to family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 6th from 3-7pm at the VFW in Iowa City, Iowa. All are welcome to attend. The family is asking for everyone to bring a side dish to share.
