Obituary of Sean Jones

Sean E. Jones, 44 of Iowa City died Friday, July 12, 2019, at the Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County with staff and his wife by his side.

Services celebrating Sean’s life will be held at 7pm Friday, July 19th. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where there will be a time of visitation from 5pm until services.  A memorial fund has been established to benefit his children’s future.   To share a thought, memory or condolence please visit the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com.

Sean Edward Jones was born November 18, 1974, in Iowa City the son of Delbert and Joan (Michael) Jones.  Growing up in Muscatine he attended schools, enjoying his time in the marching band and tennis teams. He graduated in 1993. Sean was living in Waterloo working at the Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream when he met the love of his life, Julie, which led to their marriage in September 23, 2006.  Sean had worked for a number of companies since Happy Joes, including Primus-Telecommunications and Mcleod. He graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2010 educated in business/accounting. Then began his work for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a liaison for Veterans seeking health care between the UIHC and Veterans Hospitals.  In this job, Sean was proud of what he was doing for those who had served our country.

Sean was an interesting soul; brilliant, kind, sincere, passionate, artistic, collector, with an odd ball sense of humor.  He cherished time spent with his dad and brother hunting and fishing.  Those who have known Sean know his appetite for his music, art, reading, comic books and collecting much of anything to do with these.  He enjoyed hiking, long walks, but he would be the first to say, he was most proud and blessed to being Husband to Julie and Dad to two beautiful children!

His family includes Julie and their children, his mother, Joan Jones; brother, Scott Jones; Julies’ parents, Lao Wach and John and Donna Wach; and brothers and sisters-in-laws, Jason Wach, Corinne Wach, Caroline Fosselman (Ryan Burk), Mikayla Elliott Wach and nieces and nephew.  Sean was preceded in death by his father, Delbert.
