Obituary of Frances Arlene Lund
Frances A. Lund, 88 of Iowa City died Thursday, August 1, 2019, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Gay& Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with burial to follow at the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am Tuesday until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice. Frances Arlene Good was born January 7, 1931, in New Hartford, Iowa the daughter of Howard and Helen (Deeming) Good. Following graduation from high school she was united in marriage to H. Ernest “Ernie” Lund on January 15, 1949 in Cedar Rapids. The couple and then with their family had lived in the eastern Iowa communities of Iowa City, Riverside, Washington, Hiawatha, Marion before returning to Iowa City. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Beckman years ago and was a ceramics’ teacher for over 25 years. She so enjoyed teaching and sharing her skills, but also in creating and sharing her pieces with family and friends. She has won numerous awards for her work. Frances belonged to Toastmasters, O.E.S. and White Shrine; holding offices in all these organizations over the years. But near and dear to her heart and soul was her family, she was so proud of them, as they were of her!
Her family includes her children, Chryse Nelsen (Robert), Frank Lund (Beverly), Barbara Merline (John), Jeanne Lund, and Mary Knerr (Mike); daughter-in-law, Kathy Lund; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie; sons, Dale and Steven Lund; her parents, 6 sisters and 1 brother.
