Obituary of Barbara K. Peters

Barbara K. “Barbie” Peters, age 60, lifelong resident of Newton, died Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, after she struggled with her health the last couple of years.

A Celebration of Barbie’s life will be held on Friday, October 25th from 6 to 9 pm at the Fore Seasons in Newton (6232 County Hwy S 74 S, Newton, IA 50208).  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League.  To share a thought, memory or condolence with her family please visit the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com.

Many will remember Barbie from McDonalds in Newton where she worked for over 30 years, always greeting her customers with a smile. She had a soft spot for all animals, but kitties were her favorite.  Barbie was known to be the most unselfish giving individual many ever knew.  She lived for giving gifts and smiles, never forgetting birthdays and anniversaries but Christmas was her holiday. Nothing topped the joy she experienced on this day being with family and friends, she also looked forward to the Iowa State Fair every year.

Barbie’s family includes her siblings and their families, Lynne Whelan, Carolyn Rudkin, Karl Peters, Bob Peters and Bill Peters.
