Obituary of Donald L Stoddard
Donald L. Stoddard, 85 formerly of Iowa City passed away Friday, October 11, 2019 at a care center in Galesburg, Il.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Home in Iowa City with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Don’s memory. Donald Lee Stoddard was born in St. Catherine, Missouri the son of Marion and Ethel (McCollum) Stoddard. Following graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He moved to this area where he worked for the city of Iowa City at the landfill, later he worked for himself at K&D Hauling and most recently, driving Yellow Cab in the area. He enjoyed fishing and camping, driving their camper all over the United States.
His family includes his wife, Jean; his children, Cindy Stoddard, David Stoddard (Robyn), Tammy Watson (Larry), Robert Stoddard (Annette), Jeff Stoddard (Carolyn) and Julie Stoddard; Jean’s children, Vern Martin (Renee), LeRoy Martin (Lisa), Kandra Blumenshein (Kirk), Leland Martin (Shelly), Lanny Martin (Lori) and Johnny Lyions; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Englert, and brother, Richard Stoddard (Mary)
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronald Stoddard, and step-son, Lance “Porky” Martin.
