Karen, Phillip and Jane have been our dear friends for many years. We first became close friends while both families lived in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Jane and our three children became fast friends and the four adults spent many an evening watching various musical and dance performances that the four created. Loved them so much. One of the best trips we had was going to Banff, Canada. We tented it and took hikes in the woods to see beautiful lakes and scenery. The kids brought their bikes and rode around the campground in the evening. I hope I remembered those details correctly.
Our other trips included going to the pre-season yankee baseball games in Tampa Bay,Florida, with our other good buddy Rob Nicholson. But the best times of all were our joint trips to Flathead Lake, Montana, to spend time playing in the lake, sailboat rides, trying to ski, and picking sweet bing cherries out of the orchard. We always knew we would get a great meal when Karen was cooking the evening meal. I have her brisket and fruit pie recipes and probably more. She was admired for her delicious fruit pies. Karen also taught me how to knit. I guess when they were first married she knitted socks for Phillip. Maybe more.
Karen was my friend and buddy and I will miss her, but I am glad she is no longer in pain and distress. She was a caring, nurturing mother to Jane and always encouraged her in all endeavours throughout her growing up years and beyond. Karen while talking on the phone with us shared many stories about her grandchildren. Lots of laughs about their excapades and her love for them was so obvious. Jane your parents loved you and loved keeping us in the loop of your life journey.
We are sorry we can not be at Karen’s memorial. Our love is extended to Jane and her family.
