Obituary of Marjory E Rogers
Marjory E. Rogers, 84 of rural Iowa City died at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 13th. from 4 to 7 pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Private family services and burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Marjory Rogers Nursing Scholarship at Kirkwood Community College. Marjory Ellen Hedges was born November 12, 1934, in Iowa City the daughter of Everette W. and Emma Freda Marie (Edler) Hedges. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Iowa City and later from Kirkwood Community College. Marjory married Robert L. Rogers on June 6, 1953, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Along with supporting her husband in farming, raising their children she enjoyed her nursing career for over 25 years at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics retiring in 2008 as a research coordinator. She enjoyed her membership at the Eagles Lodge, her friends from way back when and all those in between, but most of all her family was the most important gift in her life!
They includes her children, Bob Rogers, Jerry Rogers, Larry Rogers, Kevin Rogers and Valli Griffin; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Ann Campbell (Wayne) and Ruth Coblentz; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert; son, Richard Rogers; granddaughter, Brittany Rogers; daughter-in-law, Jayne Rogers.
