Betz and Callie let me become part of the family when we moved to Iowa City in my early high school years. I remember Betz in the kitchen, and Jackie and I making our favorite, tapioca pudding. I loved Betz's laugh! Those were such good times!

Betz was one of a kind, the salt of the earth, matriarch of the family,church and community leader, a shinning example of a "Christian Woman". She was gracious and beautiful in form and soul, always ready to share or help her family , friends or neighbors. Hard working on the farm she loved, and flowers, fruits, or vegetables were abundant with her care.Her smile was radiant, and could light up a room, as well as her hearty laugh. She will b missed by all, and I am happy to have known and loved her as my sister-in-law. Carolyn Smith Stringer (Larry's wife)
