Obituary of Dale Edward Riggle

Dale E. Riggle, age 85, of Iowa City, died Sunday, December 22, 2019, at Lantern Park Specialty Care in Coralville. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, where there will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial with military honors will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Dale’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Dale Riggle was born September 22, 1934 in Thompson, NE to Homer and Beaulah Riggle. He went to country school in North Liberty and graduated from U-High in Iowa City in 1952. He worked several jobs as a mechanics helper and drove trucks until he was drafted into the military in May of 1957. Dale married Betty Irene Fisher September 11, 1955. They spent 5 ½ years in Germany while Dale was on active duty. After returning home Betty and Dale farmed in the North Liberty area until 1996. They relocated to Shawnee, OK and later to Amarillo, TX. Dale worked at Kinze Manufacturing as a Territory Representative until retiring from there in September 1999. A bit of a side note, many will remember Dale from his pitching skills playing in a number of fast pitch softball leagues in this area over the years! Dale is survived by his brothers, Ivan Riggle (Jean) and Bill Riggle; 1 niece and 3 nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty.
