Condolences
Dear Hubbard family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have worked with Mary for almost 2 years at the Disability Resource Library. She was the best boss I have ever had. She became and a great friend. We shared life stories and more. She was a great listener. I was impressed with her wealth of knowledge, passion to help others, and her calm/ happy demeanor. Her smile was contagious. She made my whole experience at Iowa great. I had an opportunity to see her in August 2019 and that time she shared a bit about her health condition. I am so glad that our oaths have crossed. Dear Peter and Family: I am so sorry for your loss. -Dave Tingwald
All of us at the UI Hardin Library for the Health Sciences send our most sincere condolences to Mary's family. We knew Mary as a fellow medical librarian, deeply committed to her her work and her users at the CDD, and as a friend. Although she was quiet, Mary was always happy and really a joy to be around.. We've missed her since her retirement and are so saddened to hear of her death.
I was very sad to read of Mary's death. Mary and I worked together at the Law Library. I have always admired the way she overcame her reservations about the job and went on to become an extremely competent and valued member of our cataloging team. Her cheerfulness and generosity were a joy to be around. I'm sure she will be greatly missed by all who were close to her. My most sincere sympathy for your loss! -- Virginia Melroy
It was a privilege to work with Mary at CDD. She was always smiling, always kind, quick to laugh, quick to support in any way she could. When I had research to do, Mary was relentless in her search for scholarly articles to assist me. Before my sister passed away a few years ago, she gave me permission to give away dozens of her books on disability topics. It was such a pleasure to see how delighted Mary was as she picked out items to add to the Disability Resource Library. She loved her work! What a wonderful person!
I am so sorry to hear of Mary's passing! She was one wonderful human being! When I worked at CDD I got to talk to her pretty much every day! We enjoyed sharing some of our life stories! Rest In Peace beautiful angel! My condolences to all of you Mary's family!

Peter, Robert, Neil, and Katherine,
I am so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. Although I did not know her well, we shared parenting experiences when Katherine and Christine were young. Mary was always lovely to talk to, so sweet and with that wonderful giggle that made me smile. It was always a pleasure to run into her and chat about you kids. Please know that our thoughts are with you. May her memory be comforting to you all. —Evelyn Weirich
I worked with Mary at CDD. She was a gentle, kind, and humble soul. Willing to help provide any resource needed. There was never once that my exchanges with her weren't both a positive and pleasant experience. She made you feel better just by speaking with her. She made a big impact by a series of small, quiet things - she made the world a better place. My deepest condolences for your loss.

I had the privilege of working with Mary at the University of Iowa Libraries. I don't think I ever saw Mary without a smile on her face. She had the warmest eyes of anyone I have ever met. I know that I am not alone when I say that Mary is a person that will never be forgotten,
