Mary,
I am so sorry to hear of your husband's death. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Although I did not know Rick, friends of mine worked with him and spoke of his kindness. Take care.

Mary, my sympathy to you and your family.
Sorry for your loss, I knew Rick when we worked together at ASI Machine shop. Once I was rebuilding a cylinder head on my Dodge Dart, after cleaning it in the hot tank I discovered I had lost a part. Rick took pity on me and gave me the part I needed from his own car. I always remember his smile and happy demeanor, he will be missed.

Cross Family, deepest condolences for the loss of Rick. He was always a kind and guiding light through my years at Longfellow and beyond while living just around the corner. Be well, everyone.
Mary, Shane, Caitlin and Melanie, I opened my Press Citizen this evening and was overwhelmed with shock and sadness. This is an awful loss for our neighborhood. I always thought of Rick as the person who looked after all of us. He was so kind, competent and easy to talk to. I enjoyed getting to know Rick through Longfellow chaperoning events with the Longfellow kids. Who knew there was a Pagliais in Des Moines? Rick did! And made for a fun evening for all of us after a long day touring what Des Moines had to offer for elementary school children. I loved that he provided a business opportunity for the kids with the lawn service - and can proudly report he never said no to an unruly yard or edging job. My thoughts are with you and hope to see you on Thursday. Love to all of you!! Julie Eichenberger Gilmore.
Mary and family, I was so sorry to learn of Rick’s death. I have known Rick since our days at Longfellow and Sunday school together. We often shared corners as patrols in 6th grade. Appreciated Rick’s years teaching Sunday school at our church. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I'd like to express my deepest sympathy on Rick's death. I first got to know him in orchestra at City High where we both played violin. Years later I'd see Rick when he had his lawn service and took such good care of my parents' big sloping yard. He'd turn off the motor and always take time to visit and catch up. What a good, decent, kind man. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.

I didn't know Rick well but through Mary I felt I did. He was a good husband, father, dog dad, and man. I am very saddened by his passing. I know how much he will be missed by his family. I hope they know how much he loved them. May he rest in peace.
