I am so sorry for your loss , Larry . Kathy and I worked together 3-11 at UIHC way back in 60’s . There were 3 or 4 of us nurses that were expecting and we would all go down to cafeteria and eat off the metal trays . Lots of memories .Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Kathy was like a 2nd mother to me and our families would sing and dance and play games together ( you will always be in my heart. Love is forever!
Larry, I am so sorry for your loss. Kathy and I worked together when she decided to leave the hectic pace of the central nursing office and work in the Urodynamic lab with me. She and I worked hard but also had a great time! She shared her nursing wisdom with me--and many other life lessons. She had a great sense of humor and I know you will miss her dearly.
Larry, Dick, Dodie and family sorry for your loss. You will all be in my prayers. Keep all the good memories in your hearts forever. God Bless
I worked with Kathy when she was the "House" supervisor and I was the evening Med-Surg supervisor. She always had a smile on her face and taught me a lot. Sorry for your loss, it is always very hard.
I was employed as a Nursing Assistant on 5 Southeast at UIHC from fall 1978 to 1980. Kathy was a part time 3-11 p.m. Nursing Supervisor (Nurse Clinician III) at that time. I remember her making her evening rounds to our nursing unit.
I went on to earn my Associates Degree in Nursing from Kirkwood and BSN from the University of Iowa. Later I obtained my MSN from the University of Dubuque. I decided to go into nursing while working at UIHC and was an active RN for 22 years.
My condolences to the family and friends.
Most Sincerely,
Larry Hertel

Kathy was our neighbor and baby sitter as we were growing up 1 mile south of West Branch. Years passed and I baby sat for your first two children.
I well remember your wedding, Larry. Kathy transformed that church with greens on the choir stall and it was lovely. I was so happy to be present for that special day. May you feel God's presence as you miss Kathy's. Love, Martha Thompson Resotko
I'm so sorry to learn of Kathy's passing. She was my last roommate while we were at St. Luke's Hospital in nurses training. My condolences to Larry and her family. We live in southern California so will not be able to attend her memorial.

My deepest condolences to you Larry and your family. I remember that one bus trip with the band and the cookies. Makes me smile. My prayers at this sad time.
We extend our sympathy for your loss, Larry. We hope you're able to find some relief as you recall sweet memories of the many years you and Kathy had together. And knowing of your love of music, perhaps thinking of songs such as "Go Rest High on That Mountain" and "Til the Storm Passes By" can also provide some relief for you.
As a result of our years of friendship with you and Kathy, our sympathetic thoughts are with you

I am a better person for having known this sweet, kind, loving, serving, funny, and a bit feisty at times lady. Dear friend Larry and family, please be aware that your countless friends join in and share your grief and loss. I have always found strength and comfort in the words of James Weldon in dramatic poem "Go Down Death" which ends in these words. "Weep not. Weep not. Weep not, She is not dead; She's resting in the bosom of Jesus." Blessings on you all.
Kathy was a special lady...knowing her parents and seeing her through the years! She was Larry’s soulmate! Larry, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Love you,
