Condolences
Me kreeb was amazing person and great teacher I’m so very sorry for your loss
I enjoyed working with Chuck in the early 1990s at the Crisis Center. We stayed in touch several years after I started working at the University of Iowa. Enjoyed lunches with him and his helpful and caring demeanor. I had lost touch with him over the past decade or so and was thinking of him not long ago. RIP my friend.
My condolences to Chuck's family. I first met Chuck through the Iowa City Community Band and enjoyed the many concerts that we played in together. He was very helpful to me when I first joined the group and I would look for him during rehearsals for conversation and insight.
Met Chuck in the U of Iowa simulated patient program for med students. Very willing to share information about relevant personal experience relevant to the situation. Always had a book for “down” time. A true educator.
I knew Chuck through his involvement with the New Horizons Band where he and my husband were long term players. He was such a kind and warm gentleman who always had a cheery hello for all.
My condolences to all of Chuck's family and friends. I got to know "Chuck" when we were both Jr. H.S. teachers. He was always so kind, friently and helpful to others. I remember many enjoyable conversations with "Chuck" and I was continuallly impressed with his perceptive and, as always, kind and caring attitude and comments. For everyone who knew him...the world was a better place because of the connection with him.

My sincere condolences to Mr. Kreebs’ loved ones. As happy memories warm their hearts, may the God of all comfort help them endure the difficult times. (23rd Psalms). Peace be with you.
So sorry for the passing of Chuck. He was such a talented individual and so very motivated. I know my children had him for music at Northwest Junior High and then I also volunteered with him at the Johnson County Food Bank. I know some clients knew him quite well and would go to his line to chat with him. Prayers and thoughts to your and your families. You can rest assured that he is peacefully up above watching over you and writing new scores of music. Jan and Jim Barnes
I have very fond memories of Chuck. We were both Jr. High School teachers at NWest Jr. High. I particularly enjoyed getting to know Chuck in a Writing Seminar we took one summer.
So very sorry for your loss. Mr. Kreeb had a huge influence on me and he developed/nurtured my love of music. I have passed that passion (sans talent) to my daughter who is about to be entering the 8th grade. She plays guitar, piano and drums and is being led by someone that reminds me of Mr. Kreeb, As I watch her develop under the tutelage of her instructor I have thought of Mr. Kreeb often. Thank God for Mr. Kreeb. His impact on the lives of others will live on for many, many years.

Chuck was a fixture of the Iowa City Community Band when I joined years ago. As a fellow trombonist I always looked forward to seeing Chuck in the section, leading us all! He was a good man and a great trombone player, and all of us in the Iowa City Community Band will miss him. Thanks for always making me and other low brass players feel welcome.
Chuck got me interested in the simulated patient program working with med students. I first became acquainted with Chuck when a friend told me that he needed a cleaning lady. It was a pleasure knowing Chuck throughout these years. He was wonderful and trusting friend. I also met one of his dear granddaughters when she was living with him. I send my sincere condolences to the family.
Met Chuck when we were both simulated patients working with medical students at U of I hospital and clinics. He helped us newbies learn how it was done. If it was an ailment he had experienced, he helped us to represent it in a real life way. He was an avid reader and always had an interesting book with him that he would gladly tell you about if you asked. He was a calm and kind man who influenced more people then we will ever know.
God Bless!
My family all knew Chuck through the Iowa City Community School District, where my late husband, Bill Lyons, was a colleague Chuck's. My three children all knew Chuck as a teacher at Northwest Junior High School. My oldest son was in junior high school just as schools were beginning to have computers, and David worked with Chuck to follow up on his burgeoning interest in computers. Along with Jean Mether, who taught typing at NWJH, had a computer in her typing room, and allowed David to stay after school nearly every day to work with the computer in her room while she graded papers, Chuck encouraged David's interest, which then became his main interest and his profession. David has now worked for Apple computer for 31 years in Cupertino, CA, and we credit Chuck for being knowledgable, kind, and supportive just when David needed it the most. I know there must be hundreds of students who can speak about the good teacher and mentor that Chuck was, but this is our family's story. Thank you to Chuck for being the wonderful man and teacher that he was. I have seen Chuck at concerts over the years and have tried to remind him of his important role in my son's life when our paths crossed. Caryl Lyons
Our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Kreeb. He taught junior high music, and I was in his class at West High. He taught my younger siblings at Northwest Junior High, and I believe that my brother, David Epley, took piano lessons from him. You will be in our prayers. Take care. Family of Lloyd Epley (Dea Epley Birtwistle, Jean Epley Carleton, and David Epley).
My sincerest condolences to Chuck's family. I greatly appreciate having had the opportunity to participate in instrumental groups with Chuck through the New Horizons Band program. Some of my fondest memories are of the Dixieland Jazz group with Chuck, and I am especially grateful for his guidance and encouragement. He is missed.
Chuck has been part of my life as a member of Trinity Church for all 35 years of my residence here. I never heard him say a cross or unkind word. He was the soul of kindness and courtesy, and we will miss him very much.
Chuck was a beautiful soul. My own soul lit up whenever I saw him at church or elsewhere. He and my father-in-law (Bob Engel) played in bands together and my family held much respect for him (We were honored to have Chuck help musically with my father-in-law's celebration of life service.). Loved his being a Cornell grad; again the interweaving. His kindness, generosity, and gentleness will be treasured.
Love,
Catherine Quehl-Engel

I remember him as my school teacher at Northwest junior high school in Coralville Iowa in the years after school I meet Jenny and Jerry it heart warming after all these years we talked off and on RIP my old freind may the Music play in heaven you'll be missed
Mr. Kreeb introduced me to West Side Story, one of my favorites to this day. He also introduced me to the concept of meaning behind lyrics, and as a musician who would eventually write my own songs, this was, and still is, invaluable. Thank you so much, Mr Kreeb. You will be missed.
Mr. Kreeb is one of the reasons why I enjoy music so much today. His kind demeanor and gentleness will be missed here on earth. Be assured of my prayers, Jerry, Jeff, and Jenny. Your dad was a great one...
Chuck was such a sweet and gentle personality. It was a pleasure to have known him
I remember taking piano lessons from Mr. Kreeb in the 1970s. I learned so much about music from him and really appreciated his style of teaching. My sympathies to all of his family.
I remember our Music classes at Northwest. I had been in Band and Chorus, but this was something different. Mr. Kreeb made music accessible to everyone. And very enjoyable. Teaching at the Junior High level is very challenging and he always had a smile on his face and greeted us and made us feel welcome and special. Very sorry to hear of his passing. Prayers for your family.
