Obituary of Donal R. Onnen

Donal R. Onnen, 70, of Iowa City, died Monday, July 20, 2020 at his home. He was born August 23, 1949 in Iowa City the son of Christ and Wilma (Smith) Onnen. He attended schools in the Iowa City district graduating from West High School with the Class of 1970. On November 3, 1973, Donal was united in marriage to Cindy S. Levien in Iowa City. He has lived his lifetime here in Iowa City, spent over 45 years working for Hartwig Motors, then Deery Motors, here being known as “Disco Don”! His family includes his wife, Cindy; 3 children, Scott Onnen (Pamela), Brian Onnen, and Melissa Jedlicka (Edward Mackin); 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Alexis, Lynsey and Clark; and 1 great-grandson, Asher. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, James, Leo and Ralph Onnen; and 1 sister, Lenora Madison, No public services are being planned.
