Dear Judy
I have lots more memories of Ed than I can share here. I'll just mention one thing that stood out.
Ed was a pretty big guy, a former football player with, admittedly some rough edges at times. But I was struck by his tender side. A few instances come to mind.
We have a photo of him holding Eleanor as an infant, carefully, gently smiling.
I remember on one visit to you, his strenuous efforts to have someone come help save a tiny bird that was injured, on your deck if I remember accurately.
And I remember him with a large black cat, in his lap, around his shoulders, even on his head, not irritated but affectionate.
Enough for now. I know you were married 50 years. It's a huge, painful loss.
