Condolences
Julie was such an amazing, generous and remarkable human and I'll miss her warmth and humor greatly. Family gatherings will never be the same without her smile! It's been a while since I had been able to visit Iowa and spend time with everyone, but was comforted by the memory of our last holiday together playing cards and sharing stories. What a blessing her life was to us all and to Dan, Ryan, and Grace-- I hope you find comfort in the beautiful moments you shared as family. She was so proud of you Ryan and Grace and will be with you each as you share the gifts she's given you with the world.
Julie was my sister in law tho she never made me feel anything less than a sister. Her smile, her laugh and her love for her family was always evident and seen in how she loved well and made delicious desserts at reunions and never missed everyone's birthday by sending a thoughtful card. She is sadly missed but her faith in Jesus Christ was sure. We will see you again, Julie, on the other side. I love you and miss you so much. Kolinda
Sorry to hear of your loss. Julie was always up beat and willing to help out in anyway she could with the pack and then troop to help Ryan achieve his Eagle. I was shocked and sadden to hear the news. She will be missed.
I'm so sorry to hear about Julie's death. My thoughts and prayers are with Dan and Julie's family. My memories are of Julie on Project AWARE. I will remember Julie in camp and on the river, always smiling and always taking great pleasure in her kids.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
Scouts BSA Troop 2000, through which Ryan earned his Eagle Scout award, would like to express their condolences to the family. We're thinking of you.
We are so sorry for the passing of your beautiful mother. I remember decorating lockers with her for cross-country students at City, driving with her to and talking with her at Liberty cross-country meets, and talking with her on Stewart when she was walking your dogs. Her goodness and gentleness brightened our lives.

Dan and family,
My condolences to you all - I was so sorry to hear this. Dan, I remember you and Julie so clearly from when you took the volunteer training at Iowa City Hospice, and all the hearts and lives you touched. Please know that you all are, and will be in my prayers. I pray that you all will be surrounded by the comfort, peace and love of God.
Sincerely,
Patty (Allen) Stolbom
Julie was truly a very nice person to her core and will be missed by many, especially Dan, Ryan and Grace. I remember Julie coming to our house many times and baking deserts with our daughters. The lessons were well taught, Sarah made Julie’s Halloween cookies with her son a few weeks ago. I also remember Julie and Dan driving Julie’s Toyota Tercel with no air conditioning or cruise control from Iowa City to North Carolina in August. It wasn’t the fastest vehicle but got them to their destination economically. Julie, Dan, Ryan and Grace will continue to be in our prayers.
When I saw Julie's photo and name in the newspaper this morning, I said, "Oh, no! That's Ryan and Grace's mom!" Ryan and Grace from JAM Kids! You might age-out of JAM Kids, Ryan and Grace, but never from our hearts. Your mother has been a great support for you and I'm so sorry for your father's and your loss at such a young age (both her and you). Please accept my caring, deep sympathy. and prayers.

So incredibly sorry for your loss Dan, Ryan and Grace. Weekends spent making cookies with Aunt Julie is one of my favorite memories and I will miss her kind smile and how genuinely she wanted to know what was happening. May the love she put out in the world come back to you tenfold and bring you some comfort in this incredibly difficult time.
Love you all,
Sarah
Dan and kids - Sorry to hear about Julie. My condolences to you all. May you find comfort in the coming days and cherish her memory, always. Take care.

I have so many memories working with Julie at Iowa's Child. She was a great friend and such a strong person! I am so glad I got to spend the last couple of years with her watching our boys wrestle at City High. Hugs to you all!
