Obituary of Larry A. Milliman

Larry “Milli” Allen Milliman, 80, of Solon, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the Solon Care Center. Visitation will be held from 10 to 12 noon on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City with burial to follow at 1pm at the Oakland Cemetery in Solon. Larry was born April 1, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Mary A. (Shermer) and Raymond H. Milliman. Mary and stepfather Lyzell Allender raised Larry in Crawfordsville, where he graduated high school. Larry was united in marriage to Joyce Noble on June 15, 1974. He owned and operated Milliman Painting & Wallpapering for nearly 50 years with Joyce joining him after their marriage. He enjoyed fishing, Hawkeye tailgating, eating his wife’s home cooking, and spending time with family. Larry is survived by his wife Joyce; one daughter, Laura (Wade) Shipley; two sons, Jamie (Mary Anne) Milliman and Steve (Jessica) Milliman; twelve grandchildren, Emma (Cole) Kruse, Luke Shipley, Mackenzie Milliman, Kaden Milliman, and Alan, Vanessa, Isaac, Maria, Joshua, Cody, Grant, and Doug Milliman; a sister Kathy Morrison; and his former wife, Shari Frantz. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Don and Maurice Allender.
