Obituary of Richard Stroud

Richard D. “Dick” Stroud, 66 of Solon, lifetime resident of this area died Monday, January 4, 2021. Richard Dean Stroud was born August 16, 1954, in Iowa City the son of Earl and Irene (Kelley) Stroud. Dick graduated from Solon High School with the Class of 1973. He married Theresa Rose Gerard and to this marriage four children were born. Dick owned and operated Richard’s Rubbish Removal Service for years and later worked for the Iowa City Community School District. He was one to enjoy the simple things in life, camping, fishing his coffee, beer and working. Nothing fancy about Dick, and that was just fine! His family includes his children, Lisa Donavan (Jim), Julie Shimon, Nichole Glick (John), and Brad Stroud; former spouse, Theresa Beranek; and sisters, Terry Abbott (Ralph), Diane Siems (Wayne), Barbara Brant, Betty Staley, Robin Cox (Don) and Christine Mayers and many nieces, nephews and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill, Ron, Frank and Edward and his sister, Ginger Rost. No services are being planned for the present time.
