Obituary of Eugene Craig Halstead

Eugene C. “Gene” Halstead, age 65 died suddenly Monday, January 18, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Eugene Craig Halstead was born December 17, 1955, in Iowa City the son of James and Mary (Henderson) Halstead. He attended Iowa City school graduating from West High School in 1973. He has spent most of his adult life in the construction field. His family includes his mother, Mary Halstead, 2 sisters, Connie Halstead and Barb Amlong (Scott); brother-in-law, Stanley Evans; 4 nieces, Heather Schott (Wesley), Hannah Evans, Haley Amlong and Holly Amlong; 1 great-niece, Lydia Schott. Gene was preceded in death by his father, and sister, Cathy Evans. Gene had always said no fuss about me when I die, so no public services are being planned. Down the road his family and friends will gather to remember their son, brother, uncle, and friend.
