Obituary of Rhonda R. Bernacki

Rhonda R. Bernacki, age 56, of North Liberty returned to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 4, 2021, where she was joyously welcomed by her best friend and mother, Carole Ribble. She passed peacefully at her home after succumbing to Glioblastoma, an illness first diagnosed over ten years ago which she defiantly fought off despite all medical odds until it came roaring back in 2020. Rhonda Renee Ribble was born June 4, 1964, in South Dakota, the daughter of Ronald and Carole (Boehnlein) Ribble. Their family moved to Marion, Iowa while she was growing up, where she graduated from Marion High School. Rhonda married the love of her life, Dan Bernacki, in 1991. It didn’t matter to her that Dan was a divorcée with four kids, she fearlessly embraced the important role she would play in all their lives to come. Early in her career, Rhonda was a sales executive and manager for the local NBC television station, where her tenacious work ethic led to her being one of the top sales performers the station ever had. After 9/11, she joined her husband’s company, Dan’s Overhead Doors & More bringing her attention to detail and talent with numbers to their growing business. Within a short tenure of joining the company, the business flourished with the help of her expertise. She continued to work with Dan in their business for over twenty years until their joint retirement. Rhonda was fiercely dedicated to her family, friends and faith. She was a natural care giver and had a big heart with a level of generosity beyond most. When she heard of a need, she selflessly gave, never for validation or glory. Rhonda had high expectations for those she loved and was not afraid to speak directly and openly in the pursuit to help others. She was full of pride for the accomplishments of those she loved and jumped at any opportunity to show her support. You could always count on Rhonda for her sassy sense of humor during family game nights where rules were mere suggestions. She loved playing Yahtzee, Blokus, and In-Between, especially when she was winning. She also loved spoiling her grandkids at every opportunity, filling them full of cookies and ice cream and then sending them home. She is survived by her husband, Dan, and children, Nathan Bernacki (Danette), Jordan Bernacki (Caylene), Dustin Bernacki (Jennifer) and Brianne Cummins (Bradley); grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, Ashley, Hailey, Alyvia, Peyton, and Greyson; her father, Ron Ribble and her brother, Bruce Ribble. No public services are being planned at this time at the request of Rhonda. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the North Liberty Food Pantry (89 N. Jones Blvd. North Liberty, IA 52317) an organization very dear to Rhonda and Dan.
