Obituary of Jack Harold Beck
Jack H. Beck, age 94 of Iowa City, formerly of Skokie, Illinois died Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Jack Harold Beck was born December 12, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan the son of Harold and Rose (Heilmann) Beck. Following graduation from high school, he served his country in the United States Army-Air Force as part of the post-WWII occupation forces in Berlin. After discharge in 1947, he attended and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in chemical engineering. In August of 1953, Jack married Patricia L. Rerucha in Chicago. The family made their home in Skokie where Jack worked in sales for several years before starting a plastics fabrication and distribution company in Chicago. He continued in this business well past most people’s retirement age, retiring in 2008 at the age of 82. He and Patricia moved to Iowa City in 2010, to be closer to one of their sons, Philip. Jack was very proud of his service to his country, appreciating the camaraderie of his fellow Veterans. He was one who enjoyed reading, watching movies, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and any Big Ten Football that happened to be on TV, but especially his alma mater, Purdue University.
His family includes his two sons, Philip and Roger Beck. He was preceded in death by parents and his wife, Patricia in 2013.
