Obituary of Marjorie M. Knepp

Marjorie M. Knepp, 85 of Morse died Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, March 5, 2021, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with burial to follow at the Morse Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am until services at 1pm on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Marjorie’s memory to Holden Cancer Center, University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. Marjorie Marie Sines was born August 5, 1935, on a farm near Brighton, Iowa the daughter of Lacy L. and Florence B. (Farrier) Sines. She married Ervin E. Knepp on January 29, 1956, in Washington, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage, Marjorie and Erv moved to Morse where they have lived since. Her daughters remember when they were young, their parents took in foster children until more permanent homes were found for these children. Their Mom always loved children and felt that there was enough of her and Erv for everyone! For many years she had worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses over the years including the Morse Hog Buying Station, Suppels, Cabbage Patch ,and the Mod Pod. She and Erv were founding members of the Morse Community Club, where they have been active members for years. With her preparing the chicken soup for the soup suppers. She helped with all aspects of the club including fundraisers to euchre to holding offices and being on the “Board of Trustees”. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, bowling in many leagues over the years, sewing, embroidering, and quilting for family and friends, traveling with Erv, with Black Duck, Minnesota one of their favorite destinations where they enjoyed fishing and getting together with friends. She was also a member and active in Our Lord’s Church. Her greatest love was her family. Getting together with them was what she enjoyed most. Her family includes her husband of 65 years, Ervin; their four daughters, Terry Serovy, Sue Gerlits (Vincent), Debbie Venier, and Laurie Knepp; grandchildren, Andy Serovy (Lisa), Angela Burke, Shawn Knepp (Terri), Brandy Krob (Joe), Vincent John Gerlits (Kelsey) and Doug Knepp; great-grandchildren, Zach Serovy, Logan Burke, Slate Burke, Shawn Knepp Jr. Samantha Knepp, Alyssa Knepp, Sawyer Gerlits, Jasper Gerlits, Loretta Gerlits, two great-great grandchildren, Adira and Leeona Knepp and sister, Janice Widmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Jan Sines, brother-in-law, George Widmer and sons-in-laws, Mike Serovy and Fabian Venier.
