MaryAnn and family,
Andrea and I will miss Darrell very much. He was a pillar of the neighborhood, just as you are, MaryAnn. You were, and are, both always "there" in our day-to-day thoughts. We always knew we could walk on up, and wish we were able to do so more often.
I really enjoyed it whenever Darrell came down during the day to visit or tell us about something going on that he was concerned that we might not know about. As you know we have the neighborly "stick your head in the door" and call out and come in kind of friendship, and I will miss his visits a lot.
Not only did Andrea and I both enjoy his visits and yours too, we feel so very blessed to have had him mowing our lawn every week without fail. We're so glad he enjoyed it and didn't think of it as a chore.
So many times during that summer Darrell was laid up, and during other, healthier times, we would just sit and talk. He seemed to know the history of everyone, telling us the history of our house and of "so-and-so" and more "so-and-so's." Always with a sense of humor and compassion.
I am so glad that I got to tell Darrell during those last weeks what he meant to us and how we will miss him very much.
MaryAnn, call on us if/when you need help or just a visit.
