Condolences
To Karen and Ken,
I'm thinking of you today as you say a more final good-by to your mother. We were in small groups together way back when. She was such a continuous crocheter and crafts person. We received several of her gifts. In 2010 she gave us one of her afghans white with red roses as a wedding gift. My husband finds it his favorite throw, so cuddly and soft.
Blessings in this time sorrow. The obituary is so lovely and brings out her many gifts and love to others.

Marilyn and I spent many hours talking, and she took us and all of our children to Hawkeye Games. During our years in Iowa City, she introduced us to her mother and brother, in addition to Ken, Karen, their spouses and the granddaughters--she deeply loved each of you and was proud of you. She was an ever loyal fan, friend, and follower of Jesus. Forgiveness and optimism did not come naturally and her efficiency and bright mind were often tested by other's failures or government red tape, but she never wavered in her dedication and desire to be a dependable person who could be counted on. She volunteered in numerous community and church settings, and even helped me type my dissertation! I remember her surprise when I suggested that she take half a day off each week just to do personal appointments, have lunch with a friend, or relax--even though she had so much unused vacation and sick leave; it didn't seem like she should leave her post. She was efficient, accurate, organized and highly skilled in administrative and secretarial duties, and could make herself heard at Hawkeye games and beyond. She touched my life, and I grieve her death. May those of you who are close to her find the comfort and grace needed at this time. Please let me know if and when a memorial service is planned.. Ken and Karen - I was so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I have fond memories of her and growing up in the 19th Ave neighborhood. Know that Marilyn - and all of you - are in my thoughts and prayers...
