Obituary of Wayne E. Goode
Wayne E. Goode, age 92 longtime resident of Iowa City died Saturday, March 20, 2021.
Private services were held at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City where Wayne is buried with his wife, Meg. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his memory to Iowa City Hospice. Wayne E. Goode was born February 8, 1929, in Rural Wapello County, Iowa near Blakesburg, the son of Archie and Mary E. Johnston Goode. Attended rural grade school in Wapello County, and graduated from high school in Blakesburg. He was attending North East Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri when he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in field Artillery. Following his service in the military he returned to Iowa and enrolled in Iowa State University to continue his studies. He graduated with his Masters Degree in Agronomy and Agri Education. He married Margaret A. Clark in 1958. The couple settled in Toledo, Iowa where Wayne taught Vocational Agriculture to high school students and adults. He and his family later moved to Iowa City where Wayne would join Protein Blenders initially in sales but later in management. While working with Protein Blenders Wayne was active in numerous associations in Agriculture. Wayne retired in 1992. In retirement Wayne and Meg enjoyed their home in Iowa City, their neighborhood especially their frequent walks meeting up with the four legged friends, the community and their birds around their home.
His family includes a son, Allen; granddaughter, Jasmine Huff (James); great-grandson, Lyric and a sister, Marilyn Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Meg; and brothers, Kenneth, Wendell, and Warren.
