Obituary of Ardes J. McIntire
Ardes J. McIntire, age 90 of North Liberty, Iowa died Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the Bird House – Hospice Home of Johnson County.
A gathering time for family and friends to remember Ardes will be held from 2 to 5 pm Sunday, April 18th at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City concluding with remarks. Ardes June Gibson was born June 29, 1930, in Allegan, Michigan the daughter of G. Gerald and Anna Clara (Westfall) Gibson. She attended school in Allegan, graduating with the Class of 1948 from Allegan High School. She married Jack Glen McIntire in Allegan, where they made their home. The family moved to Fairfield, Iowa when Jack’s work with Rockwell took him there. They resided here for many years, later moving back to Allegan and then moving to Williamsburg, Iowa upon retirement. Ardes moved to North Liberty following Jack’s death.
Ardes made friends wherever she went. She rejoiced in visits with family and longtime and newly made friends. She always had a song in her heart and loved to share her beautiful voice with one and all. She cherished the title of wife, mother, grandma and great grandmother (GG) with pride and distinction. She was active in the various churches, especially the choirs, in the communities she lived, longtime member of PEO, and enjoyed her many friends through bridge clubs, bowling and golfing. Her passion for nature was reflected in the cards she crafted by drying various flowers and wildflowers. She was a beautiful soul that loved her life and was loved by so many.
Her family includes her three daughters, Colleen Moore (RJ), Sherri Pitkin, and Jody Mineart (Ken); grandchildren, Gary McIntire (Shannon), Greg McIntire (Cristy), Meghan Settje (Chris), Jennifer Moore (David O’Donnell), Joshua Moore (Michelle Day), Matthew Pitkin (Jennifer), Ashley Klopfenstein (Vince) and Samantha Robertson (Dan); great-grandchildren, Ian & Mia McIntire, Devin Settje, Kael O’Donnell, Katelynn Watts, Dani & Laney Kasper, Ava, Jonny and Evan Pitkin, Casen & Jay Klopfenstein and Braelyn Robertson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; son, Ronald; son-in-law, Rick Pitkin; granddaughter, Courtney McIntire; sister, Vivian Duryea; and two brothers, George and Woodrow Gibson.
