Grau was born on November 8, 1936, in Huron, South Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Fern (Farrow) Grau. Following high school she attended and graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, She married Richard “Dick” Stachour on June 2, 1957 in Sioux City. The couple and their family lived in Sibley, Iowa for 25 years where Judy worked for the public schools for over 20 years. Judy and Dick moved to Iowa City in 1984, and here she worked at Iowa Book & Supply for over 20 years. Here they have been members of the First United Methodist Church. Judy simply loved being married to Dick, Mom to their children, Grandma and Great Grandma was the icing on the cake. She really enjoyed watching Hawkeye sports (and lots of other sports) with Dick (she was very knowledgeable about what she watched). She enjoyed decorating their townhome like only she could (she loved her nicknacks). Always making Holidays extra special for her family and their friends. At Thanksgiving she would serve chicken instead of turkey; even to the protest of some family members, but they soon realized her chicken was better than any turkey they had ever tasted! At Christmas she made the very best Party Mix and everyone in the family craved it. She even fulfilled special orders (like cashews only). Many great memories of the pine smell of our house, the tree, the decorations, the music (Andy Williams was her favorite), the thoughtful gifts and of course church, food, family and friends. She truely cherished the many blessings in her life. Her family includes her husband, Dick; their children, Jeri Young (Rick), Kevin Stachour and Rick Stachour (Charlotte); grandchildren, Adam Young (Jen), Eric Young, Jantzen Stachour and Rylee Stachour and three great-grandchildren, A.J., Avery Young and Jordan Young. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dean Grau.
