Obituary of Jack Douglas Jessup

Jack D. Jessup passed away June 10, 2021, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was 70 years old. Jack was born May 7, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Jack and Freda (nee McCain) Jessup. A proud career Airforce veteran, Jack served over 23 years. Upon retirement, Jack joined the Boilermakers and continued to work. He was always tinkering on projects and found enjoyment in work. Jack loved motorcycles, either fixing them or taking them out for a cruise. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Jack will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving Jack are his cherished children, Miranda (Ely) Gardea and Jack (Barbie Schmidt) Jessup, Jr.; fiancée, Cleatis Tonche; grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Coetzee, Robert (Mercedes) Dorsey, Jr., Ely O. Gardea, Javier Gardea, Yesenia Gardea, Jordan Jessup, Kyler Jessup, Conner Jessup, Noah Jessup, Trenton Jessup and Adalyn Jessup; great-grandchild, Alena Coetzee; sisters, Diana (George) Thompson, Connie (Timothy) Mork and Christina (Russell) Harris. Sadly, Jack is preceded in death by his late wife, Lana Hinman; and parents, Jack and Freda. Services celebrating Jack’s life will be held at 5 pm Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at the Oxford United Methodist Church.
