Obituary of Sara Elizabeth Sherlock

Sara E. Sherlock, passed away August 3, 2021, in West Branch, Iowa. She was 69 years old. Sara’s family will receive guests at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service on Friday, August 6, from 4-7 pm. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 7, 10 am, also at the funeral home. Sara will be interred at the Memory Gardens Cemetery following the service. Sara was born August 29, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Russell and Eleanor (Sponar) Sherlock. Sara was a very gregarious, outgoing and kind person. Being the chief cashier at Walgreens in Iowa City for 42 years, she had never met a stranger. She was very much a people person who loved the people she got to meet every day and interact with and getting to hear their stories. Sara loved to read, often reading three or four books a week. She used to love to browse the secondhand shops looking for that perfect item. She would also enjoy trying her luck at the casino. Sara loved the simple life and the people in it that made it so special. She will truly be missed. Surviving Sara are her siblings, Roger Sherlock and Barbara (David) Anderson; sister-in-law, Jan Sherlock; four nieces and two nephews; seven great nieces and four great nephews; and five great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. Sadly, Sara is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Sherlock; parents, Russell and Eleanor; and good friend, Brenden Dailey.
