Obituary of Judith Tranmer

Judith K. “Judy” Tranmer, age 77 longtime resident of Coralville died Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Judith Kay Campbell was born September 10, 1943, in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Melvin and Elizabeth (Fullgrabe) Campbell. She was raised in Muscatine attending schools there graduating from Muscatine High School in 1961. She attended cosmetology school following high school. On June 26, 1965, she was united in marriage to James Edward Tranmer, in Cedar Rapids. Starting a family and living in a number of different cities in the early years of their marriage she concentrated on raising their children and taking care of the home front. The family moved to Coralville in 1994, and this is when she began working for the University Hospitals in the dietary department. She made many lifetime friends with her coworkers and even some patients in the 15 years she worked there. A job she enjoyed and those around her enjoyed her positive joyful spirit! Judy was a simple lady that appreciated and was so thankful for the many blessings in her life. These began with her family, not only Jim and the kids, but her children’s families, her husband’s family who took her in the minute they met, and of course her brother and his family. Judy was the go-to person, the one that you could count on to listen, to comfort and give you just enough of a nudge when needed. This trait carried over into her coworkers, friends and even total strangers. She also appreciated God’s gifts of beauty in her gardens, creatures two and four legged, simply put she was loved by many, and loved many and her world that she was able to live in. Her family includes her husband, Jim; their children, Brian Tranmer (Amy), Jennifer Reynolds (Doug), Dan Tranmer (Mayra Martinez), and Joe Tranmer (Kelsey O’Connor); grandchildren, Christopher, Brooke, Scott and Nick; great-granddaughter, Lizzie; Judy’s brother, Ronnie Campbell (Ginny); Jim’s siblings, Kathie Smith (Terry), Gerri Tranmer, Zack Tranmer (Julie), Bob Tranmer (Laurie Koltes), Patrick Tranmer (Daniel Ryan), Theresa Tranmer, Mark Tranmer (Jeannie) and John Tranmer; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Gerald and Frank; sister-in-law, Michele Langer; and nephew, Bobby Pohlen. Arrangements are pending at this time through Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.
