Obituary of Janice Wenman
Janice E. "Jan" Wenman, 74 longtime resident of Coralville died at her home Friday, January 29, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial to follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jan's memory.
Janice Eileen Yoder was born March 4, 1941, in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Cornelius and Eugena (Testroot) Yoder. Jan married Henry "Lynn" Wenman on May 30, 1976, in Nashua, Iowa. For over 42 years she was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital, retiring in October of 2013 as the Payroll Supervisor. Jan enjoyed many things in life, her membership in the American Legion Auxiliary, the many bowling leagues she and Lynn bowled in over the years, going mushroom hunting, "occasional" trips to the Riverside Casino, playing cards with family and friends especially "take", watching the grandsons football games, but most of all, being with all her family, her kids and their families, and her siblings and their families. She liked things simple, but she cherished what was important!
Her family includes her daughter, Lori Peterson and her husband, Royce of Coralville; step-sons and their wives, Ronald and Beverly Wenman of Coralville; and David and Julie Wenman of Highland Ranch, CO; 6 grandchildren,, Kim Vogelgesang (Jason), Kelly Lindsay (Ryan), Christopher Wenman (AnnMarie Gilbert), Tracy Wenman, Royce "R.L." Peterson and Trevor Peterson; 1 great-grandson, Weston Vogelgesang; Jan's sisters, Leila Stroeh of Lacrosse, WI; and Margaret Brogla of Coralville; numerous nieces, nephews and Jan's caregiver, Linda Peterson who has been so dear to Jan and her family the past number of months.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lynn; sisters, Bernice Darnold, Wilma Rhodebeck, Doris Patterson, Dessel Miller and Glennis Yoder (in infancy); and 2 brothers, Marvin and Donald Yoder.
