Condolences
To all of Bert's family and friends, I wanted to express my deepest condolences. Bert was truly one of a kind: overflowing with kindness, compassion, humor, and her razor sharp wit. Our regular lunches at the Hilltop were always a highlight of my week. You were so supportive of seemingly everyone in the community, Bert--you will be greatly missed.
Bert was my very 1st friend at ACT and we became best of friends over the next 38 years. We have shared laughs, tears, secrets, family, goals and so so many social activities over the years. She was and will always be a sister to me. Our latest plans were all the things we were going to do together in our retirement (we both retired this year). She was one of the best people I had the privilege of sharing my life with and I will miss her more than I can ever say.
When I started working at ACT many years ago, Bert trained me for my job even though, in theory, I was here boss. The fact that I stayed at ACT for 17 years is partially a credit to her. Unfortunately, I did not get to work with her too many years because her capabilities were noticed by the Vice President of the division, Cyndie Schmeiser, and Bert moved to a more important position.
My memories of the many years that I have known Bert are all positive. She was upbeat and highly efficient. She did not take any guff from anyone. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her and all my interactions with her over they years.
I will cherish all the memories I have of her.

My condolences to Bert's family and dear friends. I know that you'll miss her dearly.
Bert was a very special person. We worked together for many years at ACT. She always had a smile and hug to share, even in difficult moments.
Bert demonstrated a wonderful blend of competence and compassion. I would have been a better leader if I had been more like Brook.
My wish is that those she mentored will try to replicate her leadership style and make their workplaces as kind and compassionate as she made ours.
I have always thought of Bertha as my little sister because I’ve sort of been the forth Nidey brother since I met them in church and out on the farm in Williamsburg in 1966.
We all grew up together later in Coralville. I will always remember her as a very kind person. Her nickname was “Opal” among the brothers.
She endured a lot of good natured teasing, because she was the only sister.
Once upon a time we were all just kids. I have so many good memories of her,
Love, Larry Laws.
Bert is my cousin, her Mom was one of my Dad’s sisters. We were all pretty close throughout life and her loss is deeply felt. I had spoken to her just a few days prior and I’m thankful for that. Her joy and love of life was amazing.
Bert was an amazing human. If you knew Bert and was privileged enough to call her your friend you were very lucky. She could find sunshine on the darkest day. Her presence made you feel peaceful, she made you laugh, and she cared for everyone. You will be missed my friend. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

My deepest sympathy to Bert's family and friends. I knew her from work years ago. She was a bright light in the office, positive in her attitudes, helpful, hard-working, and kind. I appreciated her quick smile, beautiful soul, and that she always made me feel welcome. Thank you, Bert. May God comfort and strengthen all who mourn.
Bert had such a kind heart and a great sense of humor. It made me smile just to be around her. She made the world a better place for those who were lucky enough to meet her.
You make a person welcome the moment they walk into a room. I'll miss the smiles and the laughs. And I know yoy will be waiting for me with one of those hugs. Until we meet again...
Bert was a dear family friend since she was knee high to a grasshopper!! I would have to say her spiritual gift was that of an encourager!! She was so good at uplifting people and giving them encouragement when they were going through difficult times, in fact when I was battling cancer she never failed to check on me almost daily and always send her love and prayers!! I already miss her great big smile and her long hugs and her words of encouragement. Rest In Peace Bert-you May be gone but you will be forever in our hearts. My condolences to her brothers and all of her family. ❤️
She aspired to be the best in every aspect of her life and she did it with all her heart. Going to miss your beautiful smile, your warm hugs and the special way you cared about everyone. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Rest peacefully dear friend. We love you .

Bert was an extraordinary woman of great generosity and compassion. Yes, those Bert hugs were unforgettable. She showed us all what it meant to be more than co-workers. I can't believe we've lost Bert so soon. Our sympathies to all who loved her.
