Condolences
I'm just a stranger and an Iowa City native. I was sorry to hear about the passing of Dallas or as I knew him 'running man'. He was an inspiration to see daily. The few times I talked with him I found him very pleasant and congenial. What a nice man. Sorry for your loss.
I have known Dallas for close to 60 years. Went to Coralville Central and then West High together. He was always very kind and usually pretty quiet. My sincerest sympathies to his family as they go through this painful time.
The roads of Iowa City won't be the same without Dallas out there putting in the miles. I'll miss waving to him from my car on my way home from work and seeing his recognizable form in the distance during my runs around town. Mostly, though, I will remember fondly the many times our paths crossed and we both stopped to talk--on the Benton Street bridge or near the IMU, for instance--somehow aware that our conversation was more important than our own training regimens. Godspeed, Dallas!
Our deepest sympathy to you all.
We have never met but have seen Dallas run the streets of Iowa city for many years.
May God give you strength and comfort in the days ahead.
We are so sorry to hear of Dallas passing. From having gone to school, living in the same neighborhoods, and seeing him run almost every day,he will be missed. Fred and Jule Africa
So sorry to hear about Dallas. I enjoyed our time we worked together at Burge back in the days. He always beat me in our March Madness picks and never let me hear the end of it. Peace to his family.

I have only had the pleasure of working with Dallas for a few years at The University of Iowa. Dallas was a hard worker and had a great outlook on life. Dallas was passionate and took great pride in the quality of work that he did. He was constantly talking about the two loves of his life family and running. I will always remember the stories that he shared during our conversations. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this challenging time.
Dallas was always kind, gracious, and ready to share a story or two. I could always count on him to explain to me the inner workings of the old steamed heat system in Gilmore Hall, he was one of those rare good ones who cared about doing well and cared about people. Dallas was a gem, and he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to Dallas's family during this most difficult time.
I enjoyed working with Dallas. He was a kind and friendly person. We would talk about our families and how things were going. He clearly loved his family and was quick to talk about them (especially his grandchildren). I am sad to hear of his passing. He was a really positive person and will be missed.
A lovely tribute to a good man. Just like you mentioned, he was like clockwork and I would see him running as I drove to/from work. We are all lucky to have known him and we are thinking of your family in this challenging time. - Barb Thomas, Tippie College of Business
Dallas has been a stalwart figure in the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa for years. He was a very responsible, respectful, hard worker who took great pride in his work. I will miss seeing him in our halls, but also running through Iowa City. He was always an inspiration to me to "keep going, no matter what." He ran through every weather and just kept going. His presence will be greatly missed in Iowa City and in the Tippie College. - Dean Amy Kristof-Brown
