A good neighbor is described as friendly, helpful, trusting, and respectful. These traits describe Ardell Johnson perfectly! All the neighbors in our neighborhood greatly appreciated Ardell’s giving nature. Not only did Ardell keep his place neat and tidy, but he was constantly beautifying the neighborhood. Several times throughout the year, Ardell would be edging the sidewalks on the eastern half of Denbigh Drive and even part of Sunset Street. In the wintertime, Ardell would snow blow the sidewalk down to the bus stop and often would do neighbor’s driveways who didn’t have snow blowers. Ardell could just about fix anything and he had about every tool necessary for this. Whether it be sharpening lawn mower blades, blowing up low tires with his air compressor, or replacing a burnt-out thermocouple on a furnace, Ardell could do it all. Ardell’s altruistic manner made him loved by all his neighbors. This was evidenced by all the neighbors that would congregate in his driveway after dinner in the summer and enjoy friendly conversation or as we would say, “solving the world problems!” We and all our neighbors are thankful that we had such a kind and benevolent neighbor. “Semper Fi” Ardell, may you rest in peace.
