Please accept sincere condolences from your Legacy Family. Ardell was a man of few words but he surely enjoyed them while completing the community crossword puzzle! We will miss his presence there and throughout Legacy. He was a kind, gentle man who never had a grumble for anyone and a quick smile and hello for everyone. He will remain a treasured member of our community and we wish your family blessings and fond memories throughout the holiday season.
On behalf of the Brandstatter Family of Coralville, we send our condolences to the Johnson Family. We all knew Ardell as a member of the extended Family. Mary Belle Brandstatter (Green) was a cousin. Several of us knew Ardell. A truly nice guy and proud Marine Veteran.
Condolences to you and you family Kathy.
A good neighbor is described as friendly, helpful, trusting, and respectful. These traits describe Ardell Johnson perfectly! All the neighbors in our neighborhood greatly appreciated Ardell’s giving nature. Not only did Ardell keep his place neat and tidy, but he was constantly beautifying the neighborhood. Several times throughout the year, Ardell would be edging the sidewalks on the eastern half of Denbigh Drive and even part of Sunset Street. In the wintertime, Ardell would snow blow the sidewalk down to the bus stop and often would do neighbor’s driveways who didn’t have snow blowers. Ardell could just about fix anything and he had about every tool necessary for this. Whether it be sharpening lawn mower blades, blowing up low tires with his air compressor, or replacing a burnt-out thermocouple on a furnace, Ardell could do it all. Ardell’s altruistic manner made him loved by all his neighbors. This was evidenced by all the neighbors that would congregate in his driveway after dinner in the summer and enjoy friendly conversation or as we would say, “solving the world problems!” We and all our neighbors are thankful that we had such a kind and benevolent neighbor. “Semper Fi” Ardell, may you rest in peace.
From the Iowa City Public Library, my sympathy goes out to the family of Ardell Johnson.

Our condolences to Ardell's family.
We are in the neighborhood that Ardell got nominated for . Ardell was always available to give a helping hand or advice on how to figure out what to do. The summertime/fall sitting in the driveway with the entire neighborhood ( and our dog) were priceless!!
Ardell was a valued friend, neighbor and good guy to have on your side.
We didnt get to see you much after Covid happened but you were often in our thoughts. We will miss you.
