Obituary of Micheal S. Wacker
Micheal (Mike) S. Wacker, age 64 of Iowa City, Iowa passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 12,2021 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Mike was born on January 19th ,1957 to Rudy and Elsie Wacker in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He graduated from Hemingford High School in 1975. He enjoyed some time coaching soccer for high school and younger teams while in Minnesota. He then attended the University of St. Thomas College in Minnesota, and began a long career with BNSF Railway in management. Mike traveled the country and lived in various places, but made his home in Iowa City most recently, with his loving wife Rhonda.
Mike was kind, caring, and driven in love and in life. He worked hard to ensure the people he loved were cared for, and he supported his family in every way. He loved watching his grandchildren grow and flourish into the people they are today (whether near or from afar). Mike was an avid sports fan, whether it be Saturday college ball, or one of his grandchildren’s club ball games and tournaments. When possible, he enjoyed antiquing, hunting and fishing. He especially loved and cherished his wife Rhonda, and they enjoyed many happy years together. They worked tirelessly on their beautiful home and landscaping. He was so proud of that accomplishment.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda Wacker of Iowa City, daughters Maggie Wacker (Jodi), Stacie Maulik (Josh), and Lucie Barry (Phil), stepson Nathan Kondora, and mother-in-law Marlene Hesseltine. Siblings Sherry Craig (Gary), Jim Wacker, Rick Wacker (Carol), Patricia Dobry (Bruce),and Brian Wacker (Susan).
His grandchildren Iris Fuglie, Dylan, Matthew and Stella Maulik and Gage Barry. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great, great niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Elsie Wacker, infant sister Elizabeth, brother in law, Gary Craig, and granddaughter, Lillian Fuglie.
Services celebrating his life will be held at 3pm Sunday December 19,2021, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where there will be a time of visitation on hour prior to the services.
