She was, as her mother before her, a loving mother and grandmother. Even in her elder years, she was refined without pretentiousness. Her spirit was strong and she endured situations that were heavy and burdensome with grace and without rancor. Some of her happiness days in the latter part of her life were spent with Chad James. They were full of joy and love for one another -it was a pleasure and inspiration to see. At her ninetieth birthday, she arranged the driver of her residence to take her the local candy store to buy truffles for each attending her party. She made sure that she shared her bouquet of ninety roses with her fellow residents. There was a creative side to her that was often expressed as gifts with her handiwork. Both Will and Erica have beautiful quilts made by her with finely embroidered squares of favorite storybook characters. I have missed her so much over the last several years. I feel a profound sense of peace that she is surrounded by God's love without want or need.
