Obituary of David John Robinson

David J. Robinson, lifelong resident of the Iowa City area, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022. He was just 52 years of age. John Robinson and Paula (Nutt) Robinson welcomed their first son, David John, into the world on October 13, 1969. David graduated from Iowa City High School in 1988 and served in the United States Army Reserve 1987-1988. David worked as a boiler technician at the University of Iowa Power Plant--a career that spanned 23 years. Survivors include David's children: Kyle Olson-Kelley and wife Lydia, Emily Robinson and partner Justin Pitts, Madeline Hogan and husband Shane, Myranda Shaw and husband Michael, and Elizabeth Robinson; six grandchildren: Anika Kelley, Aurora Olson-Luong, Theodosia Olson-Kelley, Ivy Shaw, Irene Shaw, and Corbin Hogan; parents John and Paula Robinson; and his siblings: Michael Robinson and wife Stephanie, Joseph Robinson and wife Tracy, and Mary Benson. David was preceded in death by his grandparents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 4pm-6pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.
