William C. "Bill" Bleeker
1926 - 2016
Condolences
While I never met him, I admired Bill for his dedication to local social service organizations. His Letters to the Editor reminded one and all of the importance of supporting people in need.
I am sorry for the loss of your dad. Bill was always so sweet and was such a joy to see in our office. I admired him for caring for his older neighbor. I was very glad he came the last time to say hello and goodbye. I will miss my friend.
I am sorry for the loss of your Dad. I was always glad to see him at our office, and especially at his last visit. Bill was always so very nice.
Bill was such a sweet man. He came to my previous job and was always smiling and telling stories and I was sad to leave that job and still asked about him frequently, which I hear he asked of myself as well. So sorry to hear of him passing and he will be missed.
We were so sad to hear of Bill's passing. He was one of our regulars and all the employees loved chatting with him. His smiling face and attitude always brightened our day. Bill will certainly be missed here at our restaurant.
Dear family,
Bill was my principal at Central JrHigh and became a life long friend. Whenmy sons and I enter the Rose Bowl stadium in 1986 he wasthere to greet us as an usher. He was alway positive and encouraging when I would see him around Iowa City.I am on vacation right now and am sorry to miss his funeral.God bless all of you,
Mike Cilek
I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad's friendship meant a lot to my son, Andy Small. He will be truly missed. Love Barbara Fjeldheim
Bill will be sadly missed. He would stop into the shop to discuss whether or not the Hawkeyes were going to win. He would then tell us a story from 1958 and how similar the situation was then to now. As we all then wondered, how old is Bill that he can remember exactly which player was on the 38 yard line, 3rd down etc. If I could remember half as much I would be happy. He loved Bonnie and his family so much, that it seems to have broken his heart. Just an amazing man and an amazing memory! He will be missed by many. Peace to Bill & Bonnie.
Mr. Bleeker was my teacher at Newhall, Iowa. I do remember him as being
very soft spoken and great teacher. Not sure if he taught my youngest
brother, Jack or my older brother, Jim. Thinking of all the family.
Debby - Sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. It was always a thrill for me to see Bill at Finkbine. It was always a great to stop for a while, sit down with him, and talk about old times. I will miss that!! My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family!
Debbie & Bill~
Please know your whole family is in my thoughts and prayers. Your parents were amazing people. The love that I seen between the two of them, makes me aspire to a better wife, mother and friend. I will cherish the memories I have of them both forever. Bill & Bonnie are now once again together. It was an honor for me to know them. Love Always
Dear Deb and family, so sorry for your loss. Bill Burch
I was both Bonnie and Bill's dental hygienist for many, many years and will miss them both. It was a pleasure and an honor to get to know this family and I will enjoy my continued contact with Bill junior. Bill senior certainly left his mark on this world and I am sure he is smiling down from heaven, holding Bonnie's hand and watching the Hawkeyes win at basketball.
Bill was a great friend to my late parents and a great Hawkeye through good times and bad _ mostly bad when I was growing up. There were seasons when we were especially glad to have Bill around to reminisce about better days, and with his amazing memory, he was a walking, talking record book. My family was blessed to have Bill and Bonnie in our lives, and my condolences to Debbie and Bill and the rest of the family.
It was my privilege to care for Bill at the hospital on 6 Roy Carver East. We shared many conversations about Iowa City, it's schools and it's history. My condolences for your loss. He was a lovely man!
Sorry to hear of Bills passing. He would come into Dermatology and have such great stories to tell. I believe he wanted to be with Bonnie. My sympathy to your family. He will be missed.
Sorry to hear of Mr. Bleeker's death. He was my principal at Newhall High School many years ago and we have managed to stay in touch because of him. He never forgot his students. What a great Christian man!! All the best to his family! Love and Prayers. Shirley Schmidt Nevins
