Obituary of Naomi Ruth Conway

Naomi R. Conway (age 88) of Solon died Friday, February 11, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Naomi Ruth Conway was born in rural Cedar County, near Tipton, Iowa. She was the daughter of David and Gladys (LaRue) Wordsworth. She attended Springdale and Tipton Schools, graduating from Tipton High School. She married Donald Conway, March 27, 1950, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple and their family lived on a farm near Tipton until moving to Solon, where they lived until moving to Iowa City. After Don’s death she has lived in Tipton, Iowa City, and Stanwood until moving to Solon in 2015 where she has lived until her death. Naomi not only cared for her family but enjoyed working outside the home at Hawkeye State Bank, The University of Iowa Credit Union, and the Solon Care Center. She enjoyed the friendships she made. No matter what the job she was doing, she was helping others. Her family includes her two daughters, Kathy Conway, and Karen Brogan (Dennis); grandson, Jamie Hanes (Jody); 3 great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jadyn and Jackson; and 1 great-great granddaughter, Lyle. She is also survived by 2 brothers, David Wordsworth (Ralphie) and James Wordsworth (Judy). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, (Richard Conway); and sisters, Helen Ehresman and Doris Kessler. Private graveside services have taken place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City.
