Lyndon and Linda lived next door to me on Amhurst. Lyndon taught me how to drive a stick shift car. He also shared his knowledge about Frank Lloyd Wright with my husband and I. Finally when my husband was sick with cancer, Lyndon was one of the many people that drove my husband to his chemo appointment. I will miss Lyndon and his kindness

I had many good music teachers and choir directors; Mr Crist was on a different level. I was blessed to have him as a teacher for 3 years in high school. We "toured" one summer after high school and had a couple reunions years later. He introduced me to wonderful music and arranged songs for a trio I was part of. I enjoyed his dry sense of humor and the drawings of planes that were sometimes on the chalkboard. Rest in peace.

Memories of Lyndon span many years, from the events at the UI Dance Department, Hancher and later at the Rebel Plaza / Naugi's print shop and the Senior Center.. Lyndon was so easy to visit with and we were better people for knowing him. Best to all, Barbara Haring

My sympathy to Lyndon's family and particularly to his dear friend Jan. He was a unique and special man and I am so glad I had the opportunity to know him a little.

I so often think of this brilliant man and what he taught me as a jr hi student. I still remember some of the songs we sang in chorus. I wonder now how he "put up with" some of us. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Crist was one of the most gifted educators I had. I can still see him, finding the right note, and raising his hand to get our voices to a perfect pitch. I only had him one year, but he made a grand impression on my life. I don't sing well, but I do love to listen to live music and may now discern pitch, on or off. I remain forever grateful for the opportunity to learn and sing with this brilliant man. A complex mix of demanding task master, witty and insightful teacher, and gentle friend. Lyndon was all of these and more with an impact that will sustain his legacy far after his departure from this earth. My sincere condolences and sympathy to his family, friends and all who were blessed to know him.

Very grateful to have Mr. Crist as our Choir Instructor. He taught us his love of music but also to strive to be better than we were before. Mr. Crist was loved and will be missed by all of us he taught to do our best.

It was a pleasure to get to know Lyndon and discover the depth of his interests in and beyond music. I met Lyndon when I joined the New Horizons band, playing in the euphonium section with him, and sitting next to him for much of my time in the band. He was an exacting and talented musician, but there was much more that we shared in common, such as an interest in history and graphic arts. I shall truly miss his intelligence, wit, and most especially the mellow sound of his euphonium.

Mr. Crist was a teacher who greatly influenced hundreds of lives. He taught us to excel and give our best effort. He instilled a deep love of music in so many people. I'm so grateful he was my choir director.

Lyndon was a complex and brilliant man. His infectious love of music and the St. Olaf choral tradition in particular changed the course of my life continuously, and always for the better. "And so it's over. Where did the moments go?"
