I love and miss you, of course! I remember when you took Beth and I to your gymnastics center and let us run wild! Especially, jumping in the Styrofoam pit! Years later, I visited with my mom, Laura, and my best friend, Mary in MI. We got to smooch the moose! My hope is that you and aunt Penny are sitting by the lake holding hands.
I was very sorry to hear of Jon's death. I met Jon through his younger brother Julian. ( He was a classmate of mine at City High in 1962.)We both worked one summer for River Products (Rock Corry) He was a fun guy to be around. Sorry I was not aware he moved back to Iowa, I would have tried to contact him. My condolences to your entire family.
Jon and I were long time friends. We first met while in Junior High. Our friendship grew as when we worked together washing dishes at the universities Children’s Hospital the summer between 7th and 8th grade. We remain friends thru High School and we found common ground in the “Pogo” comic strip. We memorizes and often sang the Pogo Christmas carols. Our favorites were, “ Deck us all wth Boston Charlies” and “Good King Sauerkraut” After High School I went in the Navy and Jon went to SUI. After I returned to Iowa City we renewed our friend ship which continued until his passing. I enjoyed seeing he and his good friend Don Carney perform at the Dauphin Club shows. I looked forward to seeing Jon and Penny at our class reunions, and several years ago Diane and I traveled to their Michigan home and spent a few days with them. Thru the year’s we have exchanged occasional emails and phone calls. I will miss Jon and Penny, but I thank them for the memories and come Christmas time I will sing “Deck us all with Boston Charlie’s” Thanks for the friendship and memories. Gary Rittenmeyer
