Obituary of Richard Harold Stocker

Richard H. “Dick” Stocker age 83 of Solon died Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Services celebrating Dick’s life will be held at 11am Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, where there will be a time of visitation from 9am until services on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Solon Fire Department. Richard Harold Stocker was born December 25, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Walter and Ethel (Pippenger) Stocker. Growing up in Iowa City he attended and graduated from University High School. He later married Carolyn J. Breese on May 22, 1969. He worked for over 35 years at the University of Iowa Printing Service retiring at the age of 57. This allowed him more time to enjoy the outdoors fishing and hunting hobbies he enjoyed his entire lifetime. He was also known to be a John Wayne fan. His family includes children, Sandra Sattizahn (Roger), Russell Stocker (Tracy), Susan Stocker, Scott Breese (Kelly);10 ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carolyn; 1 grandson and 3 great-grandchildren.
