Obituary of Charles Daniel Campbell

Charlie Daniel (Danny) Campbell, 85, of North Liberty, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at his home with his wife and grandson by his side. Funeral Services will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Coralville at 11:30 am Tuesday, May 24, 2022, with a time of visitation from 10am until services on Tuesday at the church. Military rites will be conducted at the Ridgewood cemetery following the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Iowa City Hospice or Saint Thomas More Catholic Church of Coralville. Charlie (Danny) Campbell was born March 25, 1937, in Waukon, IA, the son of Leonard Joseph and Hazel Elizabeth (Riley) Campbell. Charlie was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School and public schools in Waukon. He met Sharon (Shari) Campbell in 1970 and they had 52 wonderful years together. Charlie and Shari were married on November 24, 1978, and renewed their vows on June 26, 2011. Charlie served in the Army from 1956 to 1962 as a Spec-4 in the 82nd Airborne Division. Charlie will best be remembered by his kind heart, friendliness, story-telling, and his generosity. Charlie never met a stranger. Charlie held many positions over the years including iron walking, lumber yard, cook in supper clubs, and restaurant owner. But his favorite position was his last job, working for Johnson County Seats where he made many friends driving children, the elderly, and handicapped individuals. Left behind to cherish the memories and stories - who loves ya baby - include his spouse, Sharon (Shari) Campbell; his number one grandson and caregiver, Nick Campbell; sons, Joby Campbell and Jeff Campbell; grandsons, Michael Campbell and John Campbell; sister, Barbara Magner; brother, Paul Campbell; sisters-in-law, Maxine Campbell, Arlene Rooney, Sandra (Tom) Bauer Shirley (Tom) Kemp, Shiela Petersen, Sharece (Bill) Klimek, Sharla (Linn) Ries, Suzanne (Randy) Anderson, and Shalain (Mark) Sisco; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Michael, Pat, John (Bud), William, Thomas, and James Campbell; and five sisters, Hazel Mae Burke, Kate Mohwinkle, Margaret Corneliuson, Mary "Sis" Goltz, and Essie Campbell.
