Obituary of Louise Ann Wunder

Louise Ann (Strnad) Wunder, passed away May 27, 2022 due to complications from diabetes. A memorial Mass for Louise is scheduled for Thursday, June 16 at 11 am (gathering at church from 10-11 am) at St. Patrick Catholic Church (4330 St Patricks Dr, Iowa City). Louise was born in Decorah, Iowa, to Louis and Pauline (Hubka) Strnad on May 27, 1947. She graduated from Rudolphinum High School in Protivin, Iowa in 1965 then moved to Cedar Rapids where she met Bill Wunder and they married May 3rd, 1969 and eventually settled down in Iowa City. They had two children, Will and Jean. Louise had many fond memories of growing up on her parents farm with her siblings, not so fond memories of having to stay with the nuns for after-school tutoring but she did become a voracious reader. Louise loved to read, bake, sew, garden and work on crossword puzzles. Her parents and brother, Alvin Strnad, predeceased her. Survivors include her husband and children all of Iowa City, sisters, Rose Carey (Dennis) of Oelwein and Marty Strnad (special friend Les) of Minor Hill, TN., and several nieces and a nephew, as well as great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Legacy Pointe for the care (and bingo games) they provided to Louise these past two plus years, and St. Croix Hospice for their care after she decided she was too tired to fight. Services will be at a later date.
