I met Ruth at Kosciuszko Middle School in the 70's when she became the Head Secretary. We soon became close friends.
Ruth joined our Kozy card club. We played cards once a month for 45 years.
Ruth and I moved on from Kozy but we always kept in touch through our card club. We missed her when she moved to Arizona after retiring, but when Ed passed away she came back to us.
We had some crazy times at my place up north. Going out to eat at Silvercryst in Wautoma and sitting around playing cards until 2:00 in the morning with our pajamas on. She was in her 70's by then but you would never know it.
When the pandemic hit, Ruth was isolated in her room for many months. During those months, I felt like our friendship grew even deeper as I would make sure to call Ruth regularly. At this time she began calling me her "second daughter". What an honor.
I know how happy she was when Jay and Carlyn were able to have her move in with them. She was so happy to live in their house with the beautiful surroundings. We always talked abouts the birds and the dogs.
Donnie and I were able to visit "Mom" June of this year. That visit was a gift I will hold dearly the rest of my life.
She loved her family deeply. Knowing several of her family members, I see Ruth in all of you with your kindness and love.
God bless you all. I am praying for you.
