Obituary of Gary L. Shipley

Gary L. Shipley, age 64, passed away September 8, 2022, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Gary was born December 1, 1957, the son of Harold and Rilla Shipley. Gary grew up in Hills, Iowa. Gary was a quiet, good-natured man who enjoyed playing and watching football, and loved chess. We are saddened by his loss, but his memory will continue through all of us. Gary’s family includes his mother, Rilla Shipley; siblings, Larry (Deb) Shipley and extended family, Mary (Bruce) Vrchoticky Nieces Larissa (Jeremy) Bercier and Great Nephew Jacob Bild, Lacey Vrchoticky and Great Niece Andrea Vrchoticky; and his 3 children and grandchildren. Gary was laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorial contributions in Gary’s memory are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
