Linda J. Flinn, age 77 of Iowa City died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Monday, September 26, 2022.
Linda Jean Hartley was born March 3, 1945, in Lincoln, Nebraska the daughter of Harold and Mildred (Finnegan) Hartley. Their family moved to Des Moines where she attended schools graduating from Lincoln High School. She then moved to Iowa City to attend the University of Iowa where she received her nursing degree from the College of Nursing. With her degree and her love of Iowa City, she just never left. For over 54 years she worked as a registered nurse, many years at the Veterans Administration Hospital and later at Mercy Hospital.
Linda had been a faithful member of the First Christian Church for many years, she enjoyed tending to her gardens, and her son’s lifetime friends. Even after her son, Ken’s death, his friends still kept in touch with her and she with them their “Ken Bond”.
Linda was married to Robert Cook nearly 30 years before his death. She married Darrell Flinn after Darrell’s wife, Carolyn died in November of 2000. In addition to Darrell, Linda is survived by her brother and his wife, Thomas and Sue Hartley; nieces and nephews, Katie Armbruster (Alex), Dan Hartley (Carrisa Hotchkiss) Lisa Amor (Tomas), Judy Serbousek (Jim) and Janet Berrty; great nieces and nephews, Anna, Kailyn, Brynn, Oliver and Adrian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob Cook; son, Kenneth Cook; step-son, Brad Flinn; sister, Barbara Hartley and brother Jerry Hartley.
